Piero Bruno Hugo Fontana Bertani, known as Hugo del Carril (November 30, 1912 - August 13, 1989), was an Argentine film actor, film director and tango singer of the classic era. He began his career as a singer of tango choruses at the age of fifteen. He made his film debut as an actor in 1937 and in 1949 as a director. In 1948 he would go on to immortality as the voice of La Marcha Peronista, for which he would be persecuted and imprisoned in 1955 after the coup against the government of Juan Domingo Perón.
