Alejandro De Leon graduated with an MFA in Producing from the American Film Institute Conservatory in 2010. In 2011, De Leon co-produced his first feature Electrick Children. The film had its world premiere at the 2012 Berlin Film Festival and US premiere at SXSW, as well as playing AFI Fest, BAFICI and various other festivals.
De Leon was an Executive Producer on Night Moves by critically acclaimed director Kelly Reichardt. The film screened at festivals worldwide, including the 2013 Venice Film Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival, BFI London, and won top honors/Grand Prize at the 2013 Deauville film festival in France. The film enjoyed domestic and international theatrical releases. In 2014 he co-produced the film Big Significant Things, which world premiere at the SXSW film festival. Additionally he has production managed on the Jim Mickle directed film Cold In July, and the Spanish film Little Galicia.
De Leon has produced and line-produced over 12 shorts films including The Strange Thing About The Johnsons and Munchausen (both written and directed by Ari Aster) which were official selections in various prestigious film festivals such as the New York Film Festival, Fantastic Fest and Slamdance. He has also line produced two Student Academy Award winners: Thief (Gold-2011) and Narcocorrido (Silver-2012), and he has produced commercials for brands such as AMEX, Wendy’s, Toyota, Kenzo, Reebok, Boost Mobile as well as music videos for companies such as m ss ng p eces, CAVIAR Content, Pulse Films, Parana Films, AF Photo, i-D Magazine.
