Yiannis Fertis (Athens, April 21, 1938 - April 14, 2024) was a Greek theater, film and television actor. Protagonist from the 1960s to 2019, in classical and contemporary plays, prose and ancient drama.
In cinema, he starred in more than 30 films. He appeared for the first time in 1961 in the movie "Who's Margarita" with Jenny Karezis. The following year he played Orestes in Elektra directed by Michalis Kakogianni, a film that won 25 international awards (among which was nominated for an Oscar for best foreign language film). In 2008, he won the Best Actor Award at the Thessaloniki Festival for his performance in the film Slaves in Their Chains directed by Toni Lykouresi. On television, he appeared in more than 15 series, most notably The Teacher with the Golden Eyes and The Notary in 1979.
